Literacy skills develop one step at a time. It is essential to ensure that each step is mastered to move forward to the next. In this way, a foundation of literacy skills is established to support future learning and progress. Every program offered by Mosaic Learning Solutions is initiated by a holistic approach involving a complete assessment of each child's strengths, challenges, motivations, behaviors and lifestyle factors. It is with all these pieces that a personalized program for each child is designed and steps toward success are taken together.
Mosaic Learning Solutions is pleased to offer the following programs
Foundations Program:
Planting the Seeds The Mosaic Foundations reading program is designed for younger readers in developing and improving the basic phonetic awareness skills. Developing basic phonetic awareness is necessary for reading, yet it takes some children longer to establish these skills. If this phonetic basis isn't in place then reading will become a frustrating task. Every step in the progression of reading then becomes more and more difficult and struggles become evident. Planting the seeds to develop a foundation of literacy skills establishes a solid phonetic foundation for reading success and prevents frustration and difficulties later on. The Foundations reading support program is based on the Orton-Gillingham approach and involves multi-sensory methods to engage and motivate. This program involves weekly/bi-weekly 1 hour visits with at home follow up practice. |
* Based on comparison of reading assessments pre-program and post program. Reading fluency and comprehension levels assessed using Ekwall/Shanker Reading Inventory
